Piedmont's
Witter Sports Complex
The Witter Sports Complex is in a residential neighborhood.
Please keep noise to a minimum and respect neighborhood parking restrictions.
Witter Sports Complex
Piedmont's Witter Sports Complex includes Witter Field—the main sports field and track—as well as Humphries Diamond and the Witter softball field.
Witter Field is in use almost every day by school and community sports groups, including the Piedmont high schools' football, baseball, boys and girls soccer, track & field, boys and girls lacrosse, and softball teams. Community athletic groups using the complex include the Piedmont Baseball Softball Foundation and the Piedmont Soccer Club, both of which offer both boys and girls programs.
Witter is operated by the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD), which manages the complex's very busy schedule and maintains the fields and the field house.
As the Witter is in the middle of a residential community, parking is limited. On Sundays, the Witter/El Cerrito gate is usually closed with no access to the Witter Field parking lot.
Neighborhood Parking Zone
There is no parking in the neighborhood parking zone on El Cerrito Avenue and Jerome Avenue south of Magnolia Avenue during posted hours of 9 am to 4 pm on weekends and 3 pm to 9 pm on weekdays. There are additional restricted parking zones, as show on the map above or the printable PDF map. Parking in any neighborhood parking zones will result in a $46 citation.
Please see "Where can I park?" and "Where can I drop off?" below for recommendations.
Field Updates
Weekend gate closures: The Witter Field gate on El Cerrito Avenue is closed on Saturday evening through early Monday morning. There is no vehicular access to the Witter Field parking lot when the Witter Field gate is closed.
How do I get there?
For phone/GPS directions, see the links at right for either drop-off or parking recommendations.
To the southern (Wildwood) entrance
On 580 East/South: When heading east/south on I-580, take the Grand Avenue/Lakeshore Avenue exit. Proceed past the first light (Grand Avenue) and turn left at the second light onto Lakeshore Avenue.
On 580 West/North: When heading west/north on I-580, take the Lakeshore Avenue exit. At the first light, turn right onto Lakeshore Avenue.
Then: Drive about 3/4-mile on Lakeshore Avenue and at the 3-way split, make the slight left onto Winsor Avenue. At the first intersection, there are two right options for Wildwood Avenue. Pass the first turn (before the wall, which is for the limited access lower Wildwood Avenue), and turn right (just past the wall) onto the main Wildwood Avenue. The Witter Sports Complex entry will be on your left a 1/4-mile up, just past Wildwood Elementary School, and you can refer to our drop-off or parking recommendations on where to park or drop off.
To the northern (El Cerrito) entrance
On 580 East/South: When heading east/south on I-580, take the Oakland Avenue exit and turn left at the exit ramp light to go under the bridge.
On 580 West/North: When heading west/north on I-580, take the Oakland Avenue exit and turn right at the exit ramp light.
Then: Proceed straight on Oakland Avenue for 1.1 miles and turn right on El Cerrito Avenue. El Cerrito Avenue dead-ends at Magnolia Avenue, and you can refer to our drop-off or parking recommendations on where to park or drop off.
Where can I park?
On days where the Witter Field parking lot is open, limited parking is available next to the field.
There is no parking in the neighborhood parking zone on El Cerrito Avenue and Jerome Avenue south of Magnolia Avenue during posted hours. Parking in this or any other neighborhood parking zones will result in a $46 citation for the violation.
The best options for parking are on the south side of the complex, along Wildwood Avenue by Wildwood Elementary, or on the north side of the complex on Magnolia Avenue, between Park View Avenue and Hillside Avenue.
The southern entrance to the sports complex provides easier access to the Witter softball field and the main Witter Field, and the northern entrance provides easier access to the Humphries Baseball Diamond.
Southern (Wildwood) entrance
For phone/GPS directions for Wildwood Avenue street parking, click here or input Prospect Rd and Wildwood Ave, Piedmont, CA 94611. Parking is available on Wildwood Avenue and surrounding streets, except as posted.
The southern entrance has stairs leading directly down to the softball field and Witter Field, with the baseball diamond on the far side. A ramp to the left of that intersection provides an accessible entry. At the bottom of the stairs and ramp, the softball field is immediately ahead on the right, Witter Field is immediately ahead on the left, and the baseball diamond is straight past Witter Field.
Parking restrictions: Please observe posted signage, as portions of Wildwood Avenue by the school do have some parking restrictions.
Northern (El Cerrito) entrance
For phone/GPS directions for Magnolia Avenues street parking, click here or input Magnolia Ave and El Cerrito Ave, Piedmont, CA 94611. Parking is available on Magnolia Avenue, except as posted.
From the Magnolia Avenue & El Cerrito Avenue intersection, the sports complex is about 500 feet away, down the El Cerrito Avenue hill. From the El Cerrito Avenue gate, the baseball diamond is immediately on the right, with the Witter Field in front, and the softball field on the far left side of Witter Field.
Parking restrictions: Please observe posted signage, as small portions of Magnolia Avenue have parking restrictions. There is no parking on Jerome Avenue and El Cerrito Avenue between Magnolia Avenue during posted hours.
Where can I drop off?
With numbers of parents trying to drop off their athletes at the complex at the same time, it is recommended that parents drop off on Wildwood Avenue or on Magnolia Avenue, where there is easy thru-traffic. Dropping off on El Cerrito or Jerome Avenues is not recommended, since they are narrow one-way streets and the gate to the Witter Field parking lot may be closed, causing congestion.
The southern entrance to the sports complex provides easier access to the Witter softball field and the main Witter Field, and the northern entrance provides easier access to the Humphries Baseball Diamond.
